Getting a good cardio workout can be extremely tedious. If you’re one of those people who gets on the treadmill, stair master or bike and after three minutes starts thinking, “when can I get off this thing?” “Is it over yet?” If so, then you’re like millions of people who force themselves to work out because they have to, but what about working out because you want to?  Radical, I know, but chances are that if you have to force yourself to do it, eventually you’ll run out of discipline and stop doing it so you may as well take some time to find something that’s enjoyable to you so that you’ll stick it out for the long haul.

Hey there ladies! Just another little Idea for kicking up your cardio workouts! Hop into the pool for a water fitness class! There are a variety of classes offered all over the place.

The water is a spectacular place to workout (hard) and give your joints a little bit of a break. The water gives your body a chance to use the resistance of the water to work your muscles as you work up a sweat (yes, you can sweat in the water, if you work for it).

There are all types of classes, from shallow water aerobics, water circuit training (plyometrics in the water), water running or jogging, Prenatal water fitness (which is THE most wonderful experience while you are pregnant!!!! that’s how I found water fitness while I was pregnant with my second child). And Deep water workout classes as well.

So check out your local pool, YMCA’s, JCC’s, Gold’s gyms…I am sure the list goes on depending on where you live these are just places in my area who have pools and offer classes. Good luck and keep up the work!

Thanks Joslyn for these amazing tips! I think a lot of us forget about swimming as a viable workout option. Pregnant moms, runners, yogis and weight trainers can all find benefit from varying it up a bit with a swim workout!

Can you tell the readers where you teach swimming in case they want to seek you out for some professional in-person advice? Keep the tips coming!
