For the past 10 years I have been on a quest to heal from a violent and traumatic childhood. I have spent that time studying many different outlets to find answers…psychology, Kabbalah, self help books, personal success psychology, meditation, 12 step and Buddhism.
Do you know the main COMMON THREAD that runs between all of these practices?
It’s the idea that YOU have to become, as an adult, the very person you needed, but didn’t have, when you were younger.
- Didn’t have the parent who loved and supported you unconditionally? Become that for yourself.
- Didn’t have that coach who told you that you could do anything you set your mind to? Become that coach for yourself.
- Didn’t have that person to give you approval on a daily basis? BE THAT PERSON for yourself.
It sucks. It’s hard and I tend to forget that it’s *all up to me* pretty often. So, that’s why I have to stay engrossed in practices that remind me, on a daily basis, to do just that.
I was fortunate enough to have a coach that changed the direction of my life through her guidance and belief in me. It’s probably why I do what I do; to pay it forward every single day.☺️
